I grew up on the North Shore, an ocean girl.
I have been singing since I was five years old! As a child my inspiration was Barbra Streisand and those who were in that genre. I was different.
Though I loved the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and all the other wonderful groups of my time, I found myself singing all the Broadway songs and old Jazz Standards. I took piano lessons in High school, attended the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and got my degree in Music. I moved on to study classical voice at The New England Conservatory, and yes, voice lessons in the Big Apple, New York City. The best part is when I won talent shows and was able to express myself through the most wonderful songs ever written. More importantly I was fulfilling my dream and able to touch people through my voice. I wanted to move people, reach their hearts.
This is what I have been doing now for many years throughout New England. I have sung at Jazz Cafes, Hotels, Centers for the Arts, Colleges, Libraries, Weddings, Fairs, Assistant Living Homes, Restaurants and Clubs in Cambridge, Boston and the MetroWest Area, I have also sung at Cultural Centers and Indoor Concerts. During my journey I began studying Jazz. I came to love great vocalists such as Betty Carter, Nancy Wilson, Cassandra Wilson, Kurt Elling, and so many more. I studied Jazz Piano for years. I listened a lot. I truly believe you learn so much just by listening and knowing the keyboard has helped me become a better vocalist as well as knowing how to read music.
In 2008 I met a wonderful jazz guitarist, Michael Chasse, who also appreciated the music I love. We have been playing together since then. Now, the greatest compliment I have gotten is that I am a cross between Barbra Streisand and Betty Carter. Of course you want to be your own artist and I believe I am, but that my friends is an honor.. I'll leave you with a quote written regarding my voice ...."sultry, haunting...leaves you wanting more!"
So .....Please take some time and listen to my CD on this website. The songs in parentheses, I wrote. They are all precious to me. Enjoy! Hope to see you soon!
